We’ve all heard the phrase “shave and a haircut, two bits,” but I can tell something about the recent shave and a hair cut by Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger.
The Governor of Pennsylvania didn’t like it one bit.
During his daily briefing yesterday, PA Governor Tom Wolf criticized Big Ben’s recent trip to Norman's Cut N Edge Barbershop in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, to get his haircut and beard trimmed following a workout with his Pittsburgh Steelers teammates.
That’s because many counties, including Allegheny where the shop is located, are in the "yellow" phase of reopening, which does not include barbershops and hair salons. Those establishments will be permitted to reopen once counties have moved to the "green" phase during the coronavirus pandemic.
"My concern is just a general concern," Wolf said Tuesday. "Anybody who puts himself or herself into harm's way is something that I think we have to try to avoid. When you go to something like a barbershop and you're not protected, I don't care who you are, the chances of that virus actually wreaking havoc on your life increases.
In a statement on behalf of the barbershop, attorney Marc Kohnen said the shop has been closed since Wolf's shutdown order, adding that proprietor Carlos Norman and the quarterback are friends, and Norman cut Roethlisberger's hair as a favor without payment.
