BANNED: Here’s Who’s Banned From “Ellen” And Why

While just about every A-lister you can think of showed up to Ellen DeGeneres’ 50th birthday party back in February, it turns out not everyone’s welcome on her talk show. As you may recall, Ellen DeGeneres defended her friendship with former President George W. Bush after facing backlash, saying it’s okay to be friends with people with different views… she doesn’t always practice what she preaches when it comes to booking guests for her show.

Page Six has revealed the stars that have been banned from the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” and why. Most of the beefs have something to do with a star speaking out against the LGBTQ community, although there are some inconsistencies – not only with Bush, but also with Ellen’s support for Kevin Hart after he stepped down as host of this year’s Oscars due to some resurfaced homophobic jokes. Here’s who else you won’t see on Ellen’s show anytime soon:

  • Caitlyn Jenner: Ellen reportedly banned Jenner after the release of her tell-all memoir “The Secrets of My Life.” In the book, Jenner claimed Ellen “alienated” her from the LGBTQ community after her appearance on the show in 2017, when Jenner said she still wasn’t “for” gay marriage. Later in the book, Jenner said she had come to accept it.
  • Vince Vaughn: Vaugh was reportedly banned after coming on her show to promote his 2011 comedy “The Dilemma.” In the trailer, his character said, “electric cars are gay – I mean, not homosexual, but my-parents-are-chaperoning-the-dance gay.” After a few years, the two stars apparently made up and are on good terms – he’s even appeared on her show a few times.
  • Kathy Griffin: opened up about her longtime beef with Ellen – the comedienne claims she’s banned, but Ellen already shot back years ago saying, “first you have to be on the show to be banned.”
  • Kim Burrell: The gospel singer was supposed to appear on Ellen’s show withPharrellto promote their song together. But, Burrell was banned after apparently making homophobic comments during a Facebook Live. Ellen explained what happened on the show, and at the time Pharrell echoed what Ellen has said recently about her friendship with George W. Bush, that people should “love each other” despite their beliefs.
  • Sherri Shepherd: Despite holding a record number of 23 appearances on Ellen’s show, and Ellen “championing” for her to co-host “The View,” an insider tells Page Six Shepherd is banned from appearing anymore ever since she started speaking out against gay marriage.
