The Steelers have benched Martavis Bryant for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions over his use of social media, the receiver said.
Well, his misuse of it, that is.
Bryant—who rumors have circulated all week has been unhappy with his role in the offense, or lack thereof, and has demanded a trade—refueled trade speculation late Sunday night with an Instagram comment.
The comment came in response to a fan saying that rookie wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster is better than him to which Bryant replied:
"JuJu is no where near better than me, fool. All they need to do is give me what I want and y'all can have JuJu and whoever else."
The comment has since been deleted but it is obvious the “what I want”portion of that of course refers to a trade to a different team.
And that’s exactly what Bryant got yesterday when head coach Mike Tomlin—who promised Tuesday that he would "rain down" an appropriate punishment on Bryant for his comment did just that—sending Bryant to his new team
That’d be the Pittsburgh Steelers scout team which, in case you don’t know, typically don't play in that week's game.
But hey, they are on the sideline, which means they can take some awesome Instagram pics.
