Is This A Hack To Make Pasta Stir Itself?

I have cooked my kids a lot of pasta over the years and never thought that stirring it was a big deal. But I guess if there's a timesaver or a way to make it easier, I'll try it.

This guy appears to be making macaroni and cheese. I've made a lot of macaroni and cheese. Usually I give it a quick stir or two and usually don't come back until toward the end.

Sometimes toward the end of cooking, a few noodles can stick, especially if you didn't start with enough water.

He puts half of the pot over the burner which causes half of the water to boil and pushing the pasta toward the side that isn't boiling. He is using an electric range. I assume this would work on a gas burner as well, but I'm not sure.

Brilliant or stupid?
