Hiker Uses Bear Spray To Make Charging Bear Retreat

This guy was hiking in a wooded area when he came across a brown bear. Or maybe I should say when the bear came across him.

I have never seen a bear in the wild, even when we went to Yellowstone National Park last year. At all of the gift shops, you can purchase or rent bear spray for situations just like this. Of course you should make lots of noise, not turn your back to the bear and all of that stuff but sometimes bears are persistent.

Bear spray has capsaicin which is a temporary irritant to the bear. Capsaicin is what makes bee stings uncomfortable.

I think the key in a situation like this is to stay calm. Otherwise you might forget what you are doing!
