The Pa Department of Health held its Daily Health Briefing at 2 pm. Notes from the briefing are below. You can watch the full briefing HERE.
Dr. Levine
- 852 Pennsylvanians have been hospitalized since March 6th.
- That is approximately 10% of all cases seen.
- 241 patients have required intensive care treatment.
- 147 of those 241 have required the use of a ventilator.
- 419 cases have been seen in healthcare workers.
- About 12% of licensed nursing homes have at least one case.
- Staying home is the most effective way to protect yourself and your family.
- If you need to leave the house, wearing a mask or even a bandana could add an extra layer of protection.
- We must save all N95 masks for healthcare personal.
- Find a guide on the health.pa.gov/ website to make masks at home.
- A mask is simply one more tool to help protect ourselves.
- My mask protects you, and your mask protects me.
- Stay Calm. Stay Home. Stay Safe.
Gov Wolf
- It has been four weeks since we've seen the first case in our state.
- We know we have community spread in many different areas.
- The only way we can cut the strength of this virus is to stay at home.
- As of today, Gov Wolf is asking all to wear a mask when they leave their homes.
- Critical to ask ourselves if we need to leave our homes. If we don't, then don't.
- Universal masking is expected to be recommended by the CDC soon.
- Any gathering could act as a petri dish for COVID-19.

The Pennsylvania Dept. of Health shared updated COVID-19 numbers for the state. As of this morning, there are an additional 1,404 positive cases. That brings the total count in PA to 8,420. There have been 102 deaths statewide.

Allegheny County Health Department released their daily update for COVID-19 cases in the area. As of this morning, there are now 476 positive cases in the county. 78 of those cases (past or present) have required hospitalization. There have been two deaths.

- 0-4 years: 2
- 5-12 years: 4
- 13-18 years: 7
- 19-24 years: 42
- 25-49 years: 203
- 50-64 years: 132
- 65+ years: 86
"With the warm weather expected this weekend, many of you will be heading outside. If you feel sick, you should stay home. If you head outside, remember to stay at least 6 feet away from others, avoid touching common surfaces like playground equipment, and wash your hands or use hand sanitizer often."
