An anonymous woman in New York has filed a lawsuit claiming the lateRick Jamessexually assaulted her when she was just 15. The lawsuit was filed under New York’s Child Victims Act, which extends the statute of limitations for survivors of child sexual abuse.
The woman alleges she was raped by James in 1979. She says in her affidavit the alleged assault occurred when he visited a youth detention center where she was living, and while she says she didn’t know who he was, she notes he was “suggestive and inappropriate,” and made her “feel very uncomfortable. She says the alleged “violent rape” occurred in her bedroom, and after he threatened her, noting he “would know where to find” her if she told anyone.
She is seeking $50 million in damages, noting that the assault left her with years of physical, psychological and emotional injury, including struggles with alcohol and drugs, suicidal thoughts, depression and more.
