Los Angeles police are investigating the death of Dr. Amie Harwick – and they're calling it murder. The famed Hollywood family and sex therapist was reportedly killed in her home in the Hollywood Hills over the weekend.
According to police, Hollywood police got a call about a “woman screaming” at her address around 1am on Saturday night. When they arrived, Harwick’s roommate, who had escaped to call for help, said Harwick was being assaulted. Harwick was found unresponsive and “gravely injured” on the ground below a third-story balcony, later dying at the hospital due to the injuries.
Harwick’s ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse has since been arrested on suspicion of murder. Officials say Harwick had filed a restraining order against Pursehouse, but it had recently expired and they ended up linking back up over the last few weeks.
Harwick was previously engaged to “The Price Is Right” host Drew Carey, who has spoken out about her sudden death. “Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime,” he tells“People” in a statement. “She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief.” As he processes the loss, “The Price Is Right” has announced that they’re taking a break from filming for the rest of the week.
