STAR WARS: The Rise Of Skywalker" Teaser Drops

The first official teaser for “Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker” has dropped. Episode IX [[nine]] will be the final episode of the current “Star Wars” trilogy, following “The Force Awakens” and “The Last Jedi.”

Director J.J. Abrams says that the upcoming film is set a year after what happened in “The Last Jedi” – last we heard, Luke Skywalker (played byMark Hamill) disappeared into thin air after a confrontation with Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver). The clip confirms that the last episode’s heroes – Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac) and Rey (Daily Ridley) -- will reunite, and probably face off with Kylo Ren again.

It also seems like Skywalker’s making another comeback, since he says “no one’s ever really gone” at the end of the teaser. If you remember what happened with Princess Leia, that’s not so surprising. “Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker” hits theaters on December 20th.

ONE MORE THING! Just because it’s the “final” film of the trilogy doesn’t mean “Star Wars” is going away, of course. After “The Rise Of Skywalker,” the franchise is going on hiatus. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy says that they’ll take a break “for a couple of years,” to think about the future of the saga. “We’re not just looking at what the next three movies might be,” she notes. “We’re looking at: What is the next decade of storytelling?”
