Bill Isles, one of the co-founders of The O’Jays, has passed away. According to the “San Diego Union-Tribute,” Isles died March 28that his California home after a battle with cancer. He was 78.
Isles and his childhood friends formed the band The Mascots in Canton, Ohio in 1958 and went through several name changes before they became the O’Jays in 1963. Although he quite the band in 1971, he was featured on such tunes as “Lonely Drifter” and “Lipstick Traces.”
