A photo of bagels has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. The pic shows several bagels cut vertically, like it was put through a bread slicer, instead of horizontally, which is the norm, and for many, the only acceptable way to slice a bagel.
The person behind the photo, Alek Krautmann, claims this is the way folks cut their bagels in St. Louis and even suggests “it was a hit with co-workers.” The bagels are from Panera, who insist that it is indeed a "well-known secret in St. Louis."
But folks on social media, and even some famous names, have been left perplexed by the oddly cut bagels.
- “On behalf of the New York Delegation: St. Louis, fuhgeddaboudit,” Senator Chuck Schumer shares.
- While NYPD Chief of Detective Dermot Shea, tweeted. “Thank you for reporting this crime, but we only serve New York City, where this would NEVER happen.”
- Finally, one person joked, “I’m reporting you to my rabbi.”
- Even someone in St. Louis can't get behind them, noting, " I’m from St. Louis and I’ve never seen a carb treated so callously! How dare you sir!”
