Here’s some good news for Pretenders fans. Chrissie Hynde has revealed that a new album is in the works.
Taking to Facebook, Hynde explains that she and lead guitarist James Walbourne “have been assembling songs,” and are ready to hit the recording studio sooner than they thought. With guitarist James, Nick Wilkinson on bass, and Martin Chambers on drums, she quotes Lou Reed as saying, “You can’t beat two guitars, bass and drums.”
“To our surprise, we have enough for the next Pretenders album, so we’re planning on recording that soon instead of next year,” she writes. “James, Nick [Wilkinson], and Mart [Chambers] and I go in this week to start rehearsing for it.”
The last Pretenders album, 2016's Alone, didn't feature any of the current lineup except Hynde. Her upcoming solo album,Valve Bone Woe, is due out in the summer and it's a "jazz-dub" project that has her covering songs by the likes of The Beach Boys, Nick Drake, Ray Davies and others.
