Sophie Perry is speaking out for the first time since her dad, LukePerry, suffered a fatal stroke. She's taken to Instagram to share a picture with Luke and thanks everyone for their well wishes and support, asking fans to be patient while she processes everything during this difficult time.
“A lot has happened in the past week for me. Everything is happening so fast,” she writes. “I appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I. I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all in the public eye.”
She’s not alone, either. As tributes continue to flood social media, Perry’s former “90210” co-star Shannen Doherty has posted to Instagram saying that “processing this is impossible right now.” “I’m struggling with this loss and am having a hard time with my thoughts,” she writes. “But my heart goes out to his family and friends who were blessed with his light in their lives.”
Colin Hanks has also posted a tribute to the late star on Instagram, recalling a sweet moment he shared with Perry the first time he met him.
Hanks was on a plane from Mexico with his wife when he remembers seeing Perry break up a fight between two brothers in “milliseconds”… by blowing up a balloon and handing it to them. “He tells me he always flies with a couple of balloons for that very reason, to give to screaming kids,” he writes. “Don’t know if that’s true, but have no reason to believe it wasn’t. I’ll be damned if I don’t start traveling with some spare balloons.”
