Michael Gandolfini Tapped For “The Soprano’s” Movie
The son of late Emmy-winning actor James Gandolfini will play a younger version of Tony in “The Sopranos” film sequel.
Filmmakers said they auditioned numerous actors, but 19-year-old Michael Gandolfini perfectly captured the look and mannerisms of the character originated by his father during the television show's original run from 1999 to 2007. The upcoming film, featuring the young Tony Soprano, will be set in the 1960s and is titled “The Many Saints Of Newark.”
Michael Gandolfini has appeared in the HBO series “The Deuce” and the film “Ocean's Eight.” He said he was honored to continue his dad's legacy, noting, “I’m thrilled that I’m going to have the opportunity to work with David Chase and the incredible company of talent he has assembled.”
