ASIA ARGENTO: Accused Of A #MeToo-Style Payoff

She’s considered a leader of the #MeToo movement…and one of the first women to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, but now Asia Argento is facing her own sexual assault accuser.

According to the “New York Times,” the Italian actress/ director agreed in October to pay 380-thousand dollars to actor Jimmy Bennett. Bennett says Argento assaulted him in a hotel room in California in 2013, when he was 17-years-old and she was 37. For clarity, the age of consent in California is 18.

He sent a notice of intent to sue her for over three million dollars in November, claiming the alleged assault so severely impacted his mental health that it’s affected his ability to work. Bennett played Argento's son in 2004 film, “The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things.”

  • As for what she’s accused of doing, Bennett says that he arrived at Marina del Rey’s Ritz-Carlton to meet Argento in her hotel room on May 10, 2013. As he was with a family member, he alleges Argento asked to be alone with him. Bennett claims Argento gave him alcohol and also showed him notes she had made on hotel stationery. She then proceeded to kiss him and perform oral sex before having intercourse with him.
  • Even creepier? On May 10th, Argento posted this to Instagram: “Waiting for my long lost son my love @jimmymbennett in trepidation…smoking cigarettes like was no next week.” He replied, “I’m almost there!:) 5 min.”
  • And there is a connection to her late partner, Anthony Bourdain. According to reports, he helped her "navigate" the waters in the wake of the allegation.
