Scarlett Johansson is shooting down rumors that she’d been 'auditioned' to date Tom Cruise in the wake of his divorce from Nicole Kidman. As you likely know, it's been widely reported that the practice was common for Cruise because of his Scientology beliefs.
Now Brendan Tighe, a former member of the Church of Scientology, stopped by Meghan Kelly Today and said that he found out about the audition process by accident. And he says ScarJo was among those who could've become the next Mrs. Cruise.
“The very idea of any person auditioning to be in a relationship is so demeaning. I refuse for anyone to spread the idea that I lack the integrity to choose my own relationships,” Scarlett said in a statement. “Only a man – aka Brendan Tighe – would come up with a crazy story like that.” For the record, the Church of Scientology has denied Tighe’s claims, too.
- Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time rumors have surfaced about an audition process for dating Cruise. According to Vanity Fair article from 2012, several members of the church participated to see if they were match for him. Actress Nazanin Boniadi reportedly “won” that particularly lottery and the two dated from November 2004 to January 2005. That's before he hooked up with Katie Holmes, who he married in 2006.
