In a story that I am pretty sure was just cut and pasted from last season, Pittsburgh Steeler Le’Veon Bell will not attend the team’s OTA’s this month.
Because for the second straight season, the team and the running back have once again been unable to come to an agreement on a long-term contract extension, leaving the star running back to take the same approach this offseason that he did a year ago.
And while the “O” in OTA’s stands for “Organized Team Activities” it may as well be abbreviated OOTA’s as these exercises are optional.
Just ask Tom Brady—well, any other Patriot that is—as Tom skipped yesterday’s OTA’s for the Patriots.
And while Brady’s absence was a bit of a surprise when he announced it, Bell’s absence was given the very public battle he’s been having over a new contract the past two seasons.
Now an NFL Network reports claims Bell wants to be paid like Antonio Brown, who makes $17-million per year. And while that would be insane money for a running back, something has to give...but will the Steelers give in? Me thinks it's not likely.
My prediction: One, then done.
