After 28-years of marriage, The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek and his supermodel wife, Paulina Porizkova, have announced their split. Paulina took to Instagram to make the announcement filled with tons of cars and transportation references. The love isn’t totally gone, but Paulina notes that they're better off and have been "peacefully separated" for the past year.
“Our family always has been — and still is — a well-built car," she writes. "When the four of us are together, we can go wherever the road takes us. But as a bicycle, my husband and I no longer pedal in unison. So we’re ditching the bicycle. Ric and I have been peacefully separated for the past year. The photos of our happy family are, in fact, happy family photos; we are just no longer a couple.”
Paulina goes on to say that their love for one another is still “so wide and deep… and that sort of love can never disappear” - and that we'll still be seeing "happy family photos." They're also not planning to make any further comments "out of respect" for their children and each other.
Ric and Paulina first met while filming The Cars’ video for “Drive” in 1984. They married five years later in August 1989.
