Dear Kevin Spacey – coming out in the midst of sexual misconduct allegations will NOT make people more sympathetic to you. To review, Anthony Rapp accused the Oscar winner of making a pass at him when he was 14 years old. Kevin – who was 26 at the time – apologized for the long-forgotten incident and then said that he was choosing to live his life as a gay man. The backlash against him has been brutal.
GLAAD president Sarah Kate Ellis said, “Coming-out stories should not be used to deflect from allegations of sexual assault. This is not a coming-out story about Kevin Spacey, but a story of survivorship by Anthony Rapp and all those who bravely speak out against unwanted sexual advances. The media and public should not gloss over that.” Zachary Quinto, Rose McGowan, Lance Bass, and Clay Aiken are just a few who’ve added their voices to the deafening chorus against Kevin Spacey.
And apparently Anthony wasn’t the only one to experience that side of Spacey. When he was the artistic director of the Old Vic in London, someone said he’d groped another young man. Sources say he was known as "one to avoid." On this side of the pond, Heather Unruh, a former Channel Five anchor in Boston, said that Kevin had assaulted a relative of hers last summer. When the #MeToo thing started, she tweeted, “I applaud your courage, actor Anthony Rapp. You are not alone.”
- ONE MORE THING! Does Seth MacFarlane have an inside track on Hollywood molesters? We’re not sure, but just like he was joking about Harvey Weinstein years before it was known how lecherous he was, another joke Seth told is going viral. In a 2005 episode of “Family Guy,” Stewie runs naked through a crowd yelling, “Help! I’ve escaped from Kevin Spacey’s basement!” The clip – – has now gone viral.
