CARRIE FISHER: Deadly Drugs Found in System

Carrie Fisher died of a mixture of sleep apnea and "other factors." Now, People is reporting those other factors may have been hard drugs.

The coroner found Fisher had cocaine, heroin, and a “remote" amount of MDMA, or ecstasy, in her system at the time of her passing. According to the report though, the medical team "cannot establish the significance" of the drugs when it comes to what exactly killer Fisher. In the end, the "manner of death has been ruled undetermined."

Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd, released a statement about the report, saying her mom battled addiction and mental illness her entire life and "ultimately died of it."

"She was purposefully open in all of her work about the social stigmas surrounding these diseases," Billie adds. “She talked about the shame that torments people and their families confronted by these diseases."

She continues, "I know my Mom, she’d want her death to encourage people to be open about their struggles. Seek help, fight for government funding for mental health programs. Shame and those social stigmas are the enemies of progress to solutions and ultimately a cure. Love you Momby.”
