PITTSBURGH WOMAN: Drops 40 Lbs To Be Kidney Donor

When Rebekah Ceidro was scrolling through Facebook, she came across a post from her friend and former coworker Chris Moore. He shared that he had been suffering from chronic kidney disease for his whole life and that he would now need a kidney transplant or dialysis, or he could die.

Ceidro wanted to help Moore out, so once she found out they’re the same blood type, she went to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to get more information about the process. But doctors there told her that her body mass index was too high to be a donor. So she decided to drop some weight and get fit enough to donate her kidney.

She was motivated and now, her efforts have paid off. Ceidro has been running and getting in shape, which has led to a 40 pound weight loss. Now she’s ready to give Moore a kidney and hopefully save him from his kidney struggles.
