CHRIS CORNELL: Lead Singer of Soundgarden, Dead at 52

Chris Cornell died Wednesday night at the age of 52.

The lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave had just finished a show in Detroit. His rep called the death “sudden and unexpected.”

Absolutely stunning news overnight as it’s been confirmed that rocker Chris Cornell has died. He was just 52. According to a statement from his representatives, Cornell’s death was “sudden and unexpected” and the family is asking for privacy as they try and figure out what happened. Cornell was in Detroit to perform with Soundgarden.

The frontman for Soundgarden and Audioslave, Cornell was considered one of the founders of the “grunge” movement.” On tour in Detroit, we’ll update you as information is confirmed.Chris is survived by his wife, Vicky, as well as their children, daughter Toni, and son Christopher. His daughter, Lillian Jean, is from a previous marriage.

  • Speaking of the Motor City, hours before his passing, Cornell tweeted that he was excited to be performing there.
