A British teenager has pled guilty to plotting a terror attack at Elton John’s Hyde Park concert last year.
Nineteen-year-old Haroon Syed of west London admitted that he researched how to buy explosives online, and had picked Elton’s September 11th anniversary show as one of his potential targets. He was caught when he boasted about his plans on social media as well as to a fake contact created by the security services.
Syed pled guilty to a charge of preparation of terrorist acts and is expected to be sentenced in June, but will first undergo a psychiatric evaluation. He’s facing a possible “discretionary life sentence.”
