Elton John has canceled a bunch of upcoming shows as he recuperates from a “rare and potentially deadly” infection he picked up while on tour in South America.
When Elton returned to England after the shows last month he was hospitalized with a harmful bacterial infection, spending at least two days in intensive care, although he was released Saturday and is “expected to make a full and complete recovery.”
Because of the hospitalization, Elton has canceled April and May dates of his Vegas show “The Million Dollar Piano," as well as a Bakersfield, California concert scheduled for May 6th.
“I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologize for disappointing them,” Elton said in a statement. “I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well.”
