Looks like their lineup wasn’t the only thing the Pirates had to rearrange after their All-Star outfielder Starling Marte was suspended 80 games for testing positive for PEDs.
Apparently, they had to change their giveaway schedule as well.
Which is why the Pirates announced yesterday that they have cancelled an upcoming Marte jersey giveaway, originally slated for July 2nd against San Francisco.
“We decided that it would not be appropriate to provide the Marte alternate jersey on the originally scheduled day while Starling is on the restricted list,” Pittsburgh team spokesman Brian Warecki said.
Gentille adds that the giveaway was for children under the age of 14 but that a jersey of a replacement player is to be determined at a later date.
Hey, maybe instead of changing the jersey to another player the team could still give away something to the kids that brings Marte and his PED’s to mind.
Maybe the kids could get free “juice” that night.
