If you watched the Academy Awards, you know “Gary from Chicago” was one of the tourists that unknowingly crashed the ceremony, thanks to Jimmy Kimmel. And we know that he and his fiance were adorable. But now we know a little more about him. And it ain't good.
Turns out, Gary Alan Coe spent the last 20 years in the California prison system for petty theft. In fact, he’d only been out three days before the Oscars. A $79 dollar bottle of perfume sent him to the big house under the “three-strikes rule” in 1997. He’s also a registered sex offender after being busted as a teenager in 1975 for attempted rape – a charge he wasn’t convicted for.
Gary met his fiancé, Vickie Vines, while serving time. And while Denzel Washington did an impromptu wedding for them, the two are planning a real wedding this summer.
- ONE MORE THING! During the course of the "Oscars crashing" bit, Jen 'gave' Vickie her sunglasses. Vickie clearly thought they really were a gift for her upcoming wedding – and walked off with the $625 dollar Sama Eyewear shades.
