The people Bill Paxton glorified in the movie “Twister” paid him a very cool tribute yesterday afternoon.
Hundreds of professionals and enthusiasts checked in to form the letters “BP” with their GPS coordinates. Just like Paxton’s character in the 1996 blockbuster movie, storm chasers grabbed their gear and hit the road to mark the coordinates that would draw out an epic tribute to the prolific actor.
Coordinating through Facebook groups, hundreds of the chasers placed their Spotter Network markers in apps like RadarScope Pro.
Storm chasers and weather topics became hugely popular after the movie hit theaters. They are still riding the wave.
