STEELERS: Overcome Slow Start, Keep Fins Winless

With the winless Dolphins travelling to Heinz Field last night, the Steelers were nice enough to spot them the first two scores.

But that still wasn’t enough, as the Dolphins managed to give it all back and then some as—after the Fins scored the first 14 points—the Steelers scored the final 27.

James Conner ran for 145 yards and a touchdown, and Mason Rudolph overcame a shaky start—including an interception on his very first throw of the game that set up the Dolphins first score on a very short field—but would throw for 251 yards and two scores as the Steelers pulled away for a 27-14 victory on Monday night.

And it was his first score of the night—this short slant pass to Diontae Johnson that turned into a 45-yard TD—on a third and 20 with just 17 seconds left in the half.

That score pulled the Steelers to within 14-10 but the momentum completely swung to the Steelers on that play—and never went back to Miami.

The Dolphins will be going back to Miami—with just as many wins as the left with.

Zero… and seven losses,

  • Rudolph completed 20 of 36 passes adding a 26-yard strike to JuJu Smith-Schuster in the third quarter that put the Steelers in control. Smith-Schuster caught five passes for 103 yards, his first 100-yard game of the year. (NOTE: Juju’s 103 receiving yards marks the 12th 100-yard receiving game of his career…setting an NFL record that was set by Randy Moss)
