August 1st, 1971...Music History!



On this date in 1971, The Concerts For Bangladesh
were held at New York's Madison Square Garden. It
was the first large scale benefit concert of its kind!
Organized by George Harrison after hearing of the
"need" for help for Bengali refugees from his friend Ravi
Shankar. The concerts featured George, and friends like
Eric Clapton,Bob Dylan, Badfinger,Ringo Starr and Billy
Preston.
