WOODSTOCK: Bypassing 45 for 50

WOODSTOCK: Bypassing 45 for 50
Posted June 4th, 2014 @ 4:05pm

This August marks the 45th anniversary of Woodstock, but the organizers of the legendary festival are looking ahead to its 50th anniversary in 2019.

Michael Lang -- who, along with Joel Rosenman, Artie Kornfeld and the late John Roberts -- produced those three days in the mud, says, "We’re starting to think about it now."

Of course, many if not all of the acts who played that first one, including The Who, CCR, Santana, Jefferson Airplane and many others, will be well into their 70s when 2019 rolls around. Of course, many of them have already passed, including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Richie Havens and three of the five members of The Band. And Wavy Gravy will be 83.
