Mick Jagger has posted a statement on his website regarding the death Monday of his girlfriend, designer L'Wren Scott.
He says, "I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way. We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me. I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received. I will never forget her, Mick."
Jagger was in Australia with The Rolling Stones when he learned of L'Wren's apparent suicide on Monday at her New York apartment. The Stones canceled their show Wednesday in Perth, and Jagger is headed to New York.
They had been together for 13 years. L'Wren is believed to have been 49.
