Press Release from Robert Levin

Former Owner of Levin Furniture, Robert Levin, Reaches Agreement to Buy Back Family Name Furniture Stores

Will Reopen Select Stores & Assist Customers with Deposits

Pittsburgh, Pa. (May 19, 2020) – Robert Levin has reached an agreement to reacquire the Levin Furniture brand out of Bankruptcy. Levin previously sold the company to Art Van Furniture, LLC in 2017. Art Van Furniture, LLC filed for Bankruptcy on March 8, 2020.

The transaction, scheduled to be approved by the Bankruptcy Court in the next two weeks, allows for a new “Levin Furniture” to reopen in selected stores in the Pennsylvania and Ohio markets.

Robert Levin had previously reached an agreement with Art Van Furniture, LLC to buy back the Company, but that deal fell apart when Art Van Furniture citing the Covid-19 pandemic, closed its doors and terminated all employees across the entire company.

“We have worked tirelessly over the past two months for an opportunity to buy back the Levin Furniture brand” stated Robert Levin.  “My goals have always been to protect as many jobs as possible for Levin associates, and to continue to serve our loyal customers. Today’s agreement is the first step in accomplishing those goals,” added Levin.

Levin said, “My heart broke when I read the stories of customers who made deposits, and who were left with nothing when the company suddenly closed leaving them with no one to contact for help since all employees had been let go.” Although not required to do so, Levin stated “We will help those customers who have been unable to get refunds. We have been working on ways that our new company can provide solutions including fulfilling their orders. Our customers are the heart and soul of Levin Furniture’s business.” Levin said, “We are going to help them as much as we can.” Specific details of Levin’s proposed assistance efforts will be posted upon final approval of the bankruptcy court at www.levinfurniture.com. Court approval is expected within the next two weeks.

Robert Levin will be Chairman of the Board. Matt Schultz & John Schultz will be co-CEO’s of the new company. The headquarters will remain Pittsburgh-based. Levin noted that “the Schultz Family has been in the furniture business for 80 years and operates stores in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Their family shares the same values as Levin’s in putting employees and customers first.”

Several locations will open this summer, details on locations and timing will be forthcoming as the transaction is finalized. Levin closed by stating, “This year is Levin Furniture’s 100th Anniversary. I am so pleased to be able to continue the story of Levin Furniture, and to have something that we all can celebrate.”

"WELCOME BACK" Levin Furniture...Happy 100th Anniversary...And THANK YOU ROBERT LEVIN!
