GOOD NEWS: Bar Removes $10K Stapled To Walls, Donates To Staff

For nine years, patrons have written their names and messages on dollar bills that were stapled to the walls and ceiling at Hott Leggz in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The cash covered every inch of the pub, but when they had to close their doors last month and lay off all but three of their 25 employees, co-owner Juliana Sodre decided to use the money to help.

She says they had always joked that if something went wrong, they had “worst-case scenario money” and she says this is a worst-case scenario. So down came the dollars. Sodre and volunteers have spent weeks taking the bills down one by one, collecting around $10-thousand in cash. They’re going to give the money to now-unemployed workers to help them get by.

"It’s important for us to take care of our employees,” says co-owne rKy Novak. “At the end of the day, it’s not life-changing money, but it can get them through the next week or two.”
