It wasn’t pretty, but the Pens win Game #1 versus the Predators, 5 to 3.
What a bizarre game:
- First…a coach’s challenge turns over a Nashville goal.
- Then the Pens score 3 goals in the first period…including a goal that bounced off a Nashville player.
- Then the Pens set a team playoff record…by NOT recording a shot-on-goal the ENTIRE second period. (First time that has EVER happened)
- Then the Preds tie the game w/ a goal in the 2nd, and two in the 3rd.
- Then w/ 3 minutes left..AND after 37 minutes w/out a shot-on-goal, Jake Guentzel broke the tie
- To finish off the Preds, Nick Bonino added an empty-netter for the 5 to 3 win.
- AND…what’s even crazier…the Pens won w/ ONLY 12 shots on goal.
Game #2…is tomorrow night at PPG Paints Arena
