FLYING HIGH: Blue Jay Literally Dives Over Cardinal Catcher

Toronto Blue Jays utility player Chris Coghlan earned the nickname in Tuesday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals—considering the way he took flight resembled the man who made the utility belt famous—Batman.

That’s because his Jays may not have been able to walk away with a 6-5 11-inning victory that ended in the wee hours on Tuesday night, if not for the literally high flying highlight that Coghlan gave us a few innings earlier.

With the game tied 1-1 in the seventh, Coghlan bolted from second to home on Kevin Pillar’s deep ball off the left-field wall.

The speedy Coghlan was just about to be tagged out at home plate by Yadier Molina when, it would seem, he suddenly remembered the jays team motto for 2017.

Let’s rise…

And that’s when he soared over Molina, sticking the landing at home
