LE'VEON BELL: Tweets He May Sit Out 2017 Season

Here’s something we learned over the weekend.

Just because you make an outrageous threat on April Fool’s Day doesn’t mean it’s a joke.

Because believe me when I tell you, Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell’s April 1st tweet is no joke.

It all began this past Saturday when Bell tweeted:

“[People] can say literally whatever they wanna say...but [I don’t care], I will LITERALLY sit out the WHOLE YEAR before I decide to play on the tag!”

And the thing is a tweet like that from a star of that magnitude would normally disrupt the entire NFL community—on 364 days of the year.

Just not April first where many passed it off as an April Fool’s day prank. Including ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler who, a little over two hours later, tweeted:

“Quality prank by Le’Veon Bell on sitting out 2017 if on tag. Double checked and it’s indeed an April Fools.”

Which provoked Bell’s anger—or perhaps inspired his sense of humor—all the more as evidenced by a tweet several hours later reading:

“lol everybody think this a joke...ok”

And just like that Bell’s April Fool’s Day tweet is no laughing matter in Pittsburgh.

Or is it?

In any case, we will certainly find out in the days to come and certainly before July 15th—the deadline for both parties to reach a long-term extension.

And believe me, things are going get far more serious after this weekend.
